What do you get from the following ?

New Year's Eve it warmed up to 62 degrees
Jan 1st it was 40 degrees with 20 mph winds
Jan 2nd it warmed up 31 degrees and was windy
Jan 3rd it warmed up to 38 degrees and was windy
Jan 4th it warmed up to 49 degrees and was windy
Today it warmed up to 60 degrees

What does this add up to?

A dadgum cold. It had been a year or more since I last had a cold. I hate colds so I'm fighting this one with Dayquil, Zicam, and Nitquil at night. Love the Nitquil, make me sleep.

Have I told you how much I hate colds ?

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Rod has a head cold,
I feel so bad for you!

Should I make you some chicken soup?

With regards

From the Triple MMM ;-)

It also adds up to some snotty nosed cattle. Anyway, I hope your cold passes quickly.

Is it true that catching a cold has nothing to do with being out in the cold?

Dear Mark:
Yes. A cold is a viral disease. It is passed from one person to the next, usually by way of airborne droplets from a sneeze. You can also pick it up if your hands are dirty (with the virus) and you touch your eyes or nose. Catching a cold has nothing to do with the temperature outside, or whether or not your hair is wet.
Colds are common during winter because people are living and working in close quarters. It's chilly out there, so people tend to stay indoors. Proximity also makes schools, offices, and airplanes "great" places to catch a cold.

Complicating matters, if you catch a cold, you're contagious before you even know it. People are usually contagious about a day before the illness breaks, and a few days after they feel better. Plus, there are over 200 viruses that can cause a cold, and they're constantly mutating.

So what's the best way to avoid one? Steer clear of crowded places, wash your hands, keep your fingers out of your face (a good idea at all times, actually), and make sure your ventilation system is up to snuff. But the main thing is to keep those hands scrubbed.

don't take to many different remadies together, one kind is enough, as you could be overdosing on paracetamol, which is not good for your liver.
Also if you are taking tablets, take them with freshly squeezed orange juice, this gets it into your blood stream quicker and is also rich in vitamin C, best thing for a cold. Stay warm and eat often..Feed a cold starve a fever..drink plenty of fresh water so you don't dehydrate. A good thing for rehydration is warmed up 7up or an isotonic sports drink....take care and I wish you better soon.

Mike no you don't catch a cold from the weather fluctuation, but it does make your immune system at a low ebb, making it easier to do so, if you are in the vicinity of someone with one.

I tried the air-bourne stuff that my aunt gave to me when I had a cold and it really did help it. The next day I could tell a big difference, so now I have it on hand ready for the next one!!

Zicam is really good too.

Well arn't y'all the lucky ones....
We had out mid-January thaw last week so the snow almost melted before the temps dropped again and the snow started falling...still is. An inch of ice covered with six inches of snow, even thd dogs are slipping and skidding around. After landing on my back twice yesterday I took the tractor to the barn for morning feeding, all of 100 yards away from the garage. Just hope that we get this kind of moisture in June and July....a fella can always hope.
And that's my two bits worth...asked for or not...DMc

Mike, what you say about the virus may be true BUT, I can truefully say that I have never gotten a cold sitting on the beach in the summertime. :) :) :) :)

We are breaking records here this week. There are only a few patches of snow left and now there is mud, mud, mud and more sloppy wet cold mud. I would rather have the snow....

CKC1586....wish we could help you out...got another seven inches last night. Took three hours to push it all out of the way. Was lucky last week when it thawed and got three pens mucked out before it started to freeze again.
Looking at another bid storm waiting for tomorrow.

There is a big bright shiny thing in the sky today!! Maybe it will dry up some of this mud before we get the snow that is due to come in next week. I had just gotten the snow pushed and cleaned up pretty good, the ground was hard and things were lookin good. Then the thaw and rains and even tornados came. I just winter would come stay and get it over with. I would rather push snow than shlep thru the mud. Have I mentioned I hate mud?
