Any experience with this cross as replacements or feeders ?

I think for uniformity's sake I'd make sure it's a homo-black bull.. I would think they'd make good momma cows, but leave something to be desired for feeders.. bred to a balancer or such may make a good feeder. Shorthorns are known for taking a long time to finish and needing a lot of backgrounding to fill out big frames, the BA may help with that a little, but i'm sure some of the calves will look just like momma as far as frame goes.
Be interesting to know how it goes if you try it anyhow.

Sounds like dairy SH x GV would maximize the variation.

I would expect the same results you get from Holstein x Angus cross or dairy x Angus cross. Your biggest worries is the color of dairy shorthorns as the calves may be either skunks or blue roans. If the calves are black, then its a good thing! I would use a black continental bull or a Charolais on them to add meat or breed them again with a BA for 1/4 dairy momma cows.

youll get heavy cromed out calves with that cross.the heifers will be ripping good replacements.
