this year we finally started cutting the plastic twine off the round bales.to keep that mess out of the pastures.we started using knives to cut it,but found that sicessers work better than a knife an quicker to.its amazing as to the amount of plastic twine thats on a bale.we will have to burn that mess ever so often.

Absolutely...I've been using a carpet knife for a number of years. Works great for me.

I use a razor knife as well. Cut on an 170 degree angle and it will save the razor and cut better.
Dang, now I need a protractor to cut twine?!!!!

carpet knife..thought i was the only one...werks great dont it!

You bet it does...and cheaper... Only draw back now is that I have no idea if I'm cutting anywhere close to 170 degrees.....think I'll cut it the other direction from now on and it will only be 10 degrees. Much easier.

sometimes the plastic is hard to pull off the bales.
Try pulling twine off a bale covered in ice and snow with all the twines frozen in!

we burn our string everyday
If the bales are tight I would thing scissors would be a PITA
I use a stanley folding knife that has the replaceable utility knife blades and the wife uses the same kind but hers is called a super knife
my bales with string had roughly 300ft of twine on each bales
easiest way to get them off is cut them on one side go around to other side and pull them off the top then the bottom

right now we have 3 pretty good piles to burn.so we may set up a burn barrel an burn the mess.

All of that plastic twine is really good for starting brush piles burning. Put the twine on top of the brush pile and light the twine. As it burns and melts it will flow downward and start the brush burning.

we brought in 4 bales yesterday using the hay trailer.pulled out to the hay rings an dumped 2 bales.both ended up on their ends.so we got the plastic off by walking in a circle getting the twine off.

Was kinda playing around with the Brush Crusher attachment to see if I could handle hay with it.( I can but not very well.) Anyway I had a roll of bermuda grass hay near the hay ring and when I cut the strings (sisal) the roll of hay fell apart. At least I was able to gather up the loose hay with the Brush Crushers and put it in the ring.

You should be able to cut one line down the side, grab the ends, tie them so it makes a loop, and pull. With a good pocket knife it takes one swipe.

we use pocket knives an kitchen sheers,an both work real well.an we take the twine off before we go in the pasture.
