I tend to let thing fester too much and it may cause me to make more out of things then it is at times. While I truley believe I'm not offended by any of the examples I will list they do bother me. When I joined Cattle Today in 2004 I was new to cattle and had more mouth than sense, I ruffled some feathers, but I survived and matured. In those days there were a good number of members who were children or young adults, such as milkmaid. CT is not a family friendly place anymore and it makes me some what sad. There have been post from parents that won't allow their children to read from CT because they fear what the content may hold. I grew up involved in 4H, this is not a 4H friendly site anymore. "Jokes" are made about having sex with cattle and trading sexual favors with someone's wife in exchange for sex with cattle. Deleting a post featuring a song from the Mormon tabernacle Choir while letting 8 pages of bible scriptures go on (btw I enjoy the daily inspiration thread, it's just an example). Thread after thread of the latest white cop shoots black kid threads, again I'm not offended I simply choose not to read most of them. I realize this site makes money by the number of hits or views it gets, but shouldn't morality step in somewhere?

This is simply a rant and a burr that has been festering and a recent post put me over the top. It's 4:40 am on the left coast, too early to start drinking ..... Or is it?

From an outsiders perspective - as this site goes - so goes rural America.

It is changing and while many complain about it - few seldom do much about it - the moderator sets the tone.

Think on that.

Alan, this is a forum visited by children, I don't think promoting drinking is funny!!! Your neighborhood watch.

Alan, may I suggest some wholesome reading? Go to the thread,"In the Dark of the Night".

I mostly ignore your BS, but some things fester.

Bez, I didn't want to come out and point fingers at the mod's but you made my point exactly. It seems to me the need for pleasing advertisers with hits on the site has outweighed some judgment issues.
:tiphat:

I couldn't care less about hits or advertising. At the top of each post, next to the
block is a red exclamation point. If you click on it the post is reported to the mod, all you need to do is specify what is wrong with the post. Spam, dirty, religeous, insulting, whatever.

Do you get pm's? I know of two that were sent. Also since your on board how do you let a post on masterbation and sex with animals continue without someone have to voice their offense?

79 posts in almost 10 years.

You could give old E F Hutton a run for his money Mr. Mod.
TT, they don't have to post to do their job.

I get them, but very seldom. 1 every few months at most. I checked back and haven't gotten any from you. Click on the exclamation point at the top of the post and I'll be notified. I do not read every single post. Too many of them are boring and usually after about the second page it gets repititious.

You nailed it again BEZ. I only joined a coupled years ago and even then if you posted something questionable the mod didnt have to say anything or delete very many because the regulars would tell you to "take it over to ranchers". I came here to read and learn about cows which is why i rarely post in the coffee shop unless i just cant help myself

I hardly ever even look at the coffee shop. Not able to sleep in the middle of the night is about the only time, otherwise I jsut mark them all as read.

What was wrote was a joke I think. I heard that and worse when I was a kid sitting around the camp fire. I thought it was kind of funny myself. Some of you were really blessed to grow up where and how you did. My kids have read and heard a lot worse for sure.
Alan I see your point and respect it, and feel your dead on. But the daily news is way worse than anything Inyati has ever posted. IMO

Right by my recliner, sitting on an end table is a little knock off of like a Fredrick Remington statue. I don't know why, but I love that thing. I bought it in a truck stop of all places. My wife doesn't think it fits in with the decore of our living room, and hates it. Oh well, it's mine, and it's going to sit where it's at. She had to move it to decorate for Christmas, and said you need to throw this statue away. I said over my dead body. She said it's all rusted, and tarnished. I looked at it, and it was. As much as I valued it, I hadn't really looked at in a while. ----------- Our morals are the same way, they need to evaluated from time to time. If we don't, they will deteriate.

When my kids were young--and further back when I was young--that's the excuse we all used for bad behaviour- "but Dad, everybody else is doing it, why can't I?"
It never worked.
(for me or them)

He was notified last night.

I think it's probably time I take a little vacation from CT. I've posted some things that probably were inappropriate as well.
