I think this depends more on the region in the US. Differnet breeds for different regions.
Northern Rocky mountains and plains - Most popular kind - Black Angus and black angus cross. Almost Nonexistant(not raised in region) - brahmah, southern breed types.
Young commerical cows in good health and background usually go for about 800 to 950. This year 850 to 1100. Heifers - 700 to 850 norm. This year 850 - 1050. Mid aged 6-9 years of age - 550 to 800 in normal years. Registered - oh depends on who you are(as the saying goes - it isn't what you are it's who your are). Not less than $1500 this year and normal years $1000 minimium.
