cows in heat

I have a big tigerstripe cow that tried to mount me once. If I hadn't seen her shadow as she made her move I would probable still be on the ground.

How do you know when your cow is in heat?

Teri..You can see that a cow has been in standing heat, especially at this time of the year, with the cows old hair coat yet. The tail head, and across the hip bones, the hair will be worn down. The cow in heat will stand and allow other cattle to mount her. She will have clear mucus dischargings. A cow in heat if very restless, no eating, no taking care of her baby...she is looking for partners... If you A.I. the cow, thats another topic of its own...
