Havent got to read up lately been busy but I have another question.

I have been giving the cows a lick tub (crystalyks sp )
once in a while. Well the other day they were out of them and sold me a cheaper tub in plastic instead of metal.Well now I cant seem to find the tub. I think the cows ate it. They have freechoice mineral and salt and good quality hay and I even give them a treat 1 or two times a week. The cows all look good not skinny. Maybe I have just overlooked it, will try and find it this weekend. Any one else ever have this happen?

When I was feeding tubs.....my cows (and the bulls) would use them for toys and I have found them in brush piles, the woods, and the corners of fences. They get bored and use them to play with when they are empty. ;-) :cboy:

We have had horses and cattle take all sorts of things - light and heavy - and stuff them in the bush, take them across more than a mile of pasture and so on.

I am sure they did not eat the plastic - but I would bet - as long as it was not stolen - that it is out there - somewhere.

Have fun,

Bez!

I put my tubs in a 44 gal. gray plastic trash can, then strap the trash can to a fence post. Keeps them from moving it around. Plus it keeps all the other "short" animals out of the tubs. I hate it then the cows play soccer with empty buckets and tubs.

It does make it difficult to find the darn things!

Well I guess my neighbor used it! I seen him this morning and he said he borrowed the tub to get his heifers out of my pasture the other day. ?? I had not noticed his BLACK heifers in with mine. any way he stoped me and returned it.

Guess maybe he wanted some black baldies to go along with his angus :) He thinks that they got bred by my bull. This is the second time that that has happened in 6 months. My bull stays at home and his heifers come to visit.

Still dont understand the tub thing.

Try using a 22.5 size tire for a semi or dump truck. The tub fits perfect inside the tire and they cannot kick/but it around. I have longhorns and the 3 year old bull I had leased loved to play with that tub before I put it in the tire. I spent most of my time standing the tub upright again and trying to get the protein back into it.

An old tire solved my problems also. It stays where I leave it now.
