Hadn't planned on doing anything special. Got water and the fences are good. Not much else to do. Not bringing em in or anything. Anyone do anything special when serious weather is coming like a hurricane

If we're expecting high winds, I will move them to the pasture near the house. It is more secure, and most importantly, only about 3 trees (small ones) anywhere near the fences.

I tend to open gates up and give them the option to go where they want. Within my property of course. Not really much else you can do.
That's about it,,during the tornado outbreak a few years back.. I got my cows up near the house... Should have let em go where they wanted... You tend to concentrate on staying alive yourself...cover every angle.. You ain't ever prepared enough...seems like the people that don't do anything are the ones that fare the best..

All I did was move them where they have a good tank and try to keep them in pastures away from highways. After that they have to fend for themselves.
That's about all you can do unless you are going to load them up and haul them to an area not affected by the storm, but, high water don't care about fences at all. After thinking over my recent experience, I'm convinced, that they may well have just got spooked and went over the fences as the water got up over their bellies. Had they stayed where they were, it would have been a miserable 14-16 hours, but they would have survived. Necks, backs and heads would certainly have remained out of the water.
(might of gotten tired of fighting the current tho...)

As far wind and rain, during Ike and Rita, they just stand there and take it, but neither was a Cat 5 either..
