my parents agreed with Dennis......

i never recall a single minute spent in the corner.....

Mom was the worst....she made me go cut the switch.

thats conciderd neanderthal nowdays :cowboy:

yeah...but it worked.

made me think before nearly every potentially stupid move.....

what am I going to tell the folks if I get caught with this foolishness....

after a while it was less a fear of punishment ...

and more a fear of losing their hard earned respect.

You too? We had a peach tree, I hated that thing.

Plum switches are worse than peach switches  . Apricot is bad as well but plum is the worst... I'm a hellion from one of the premier fruit growing regions of the world... Trust me when I say there's a differance...

My kids can cuss a blue streak as long as they do it in the proper context. It takes the alure away when there's nothing tabboo about it. :D They know what all of it is and what it means and they choose by themselves to rarely use it.

Dad cut the peach tree down after we got out of. School .. he said it wasn't for fruit just to grow switches .. Haha

look up Kevin Bloody Wilson's "the kid he swears a little bit".. perfectly matches this topic..
I agree with cow pollinator, cussing is an art form and to be used correctly is fine

I also think that no word is inherently a taboo word.. it's just a word!!, the context it's used in is what is important

there was a Catholic nurse who worked with my mother for a while, and she was actually a perfectly sweet old lady, but she was dutch and had recently immigrated to canada so her english was bad... Now the doctor at the hospital also owned the sheep pasture golf course, and she was talking to his wife and trying to make some small talk said "So your husband f****s sheep?" I'm sure the room went quite dead... she had just been told the "F" word meant 'breeding' or 'sex' I would have liked to be a fly on the wall there!

I must have been a goody two shoes when I was small, as I was never smacked by my parents. I was grounded a few times, I never did swear, could have been a girl thing! One of my brothers did once and our Mum pushed a bar of soap into his mouth, that was the one and only time he ever swore in front of our Mum. Not saying nobody else did, but I had a lot of respect for my folks and they did of me, it was earned on both sides, and I just done as was asked of me, no question if Mum or Dad said 'Jump' I'd just say 'How high' boy I miss those two. We had an idyllic childhood me and my two brothers.

I wish we had of had a peach tree....all my dad ever used was the cowhide belt he wore. Did not have to repeat the "teaching session" very often.

Mom used the wire handle of a fly swatter and she us, me, go get it when I was going to get it. I still remember her holding me by a arm as we " danced around the kitchen". As Sinbad ( the comedian ) once said " I wasn't afraid to steal the car, I was afraid of the beating dad would give me for stealing the car". To be very clear I'm saying as a kid my whippings were a good thing. More kids should get them if they are given under control.
