Did anyone ever wonder as I have. Three guys go into your home and have turns at your wife. You go to the bar, lock the door and fight them? That is how it goes in the song. That offense goes beyond a beatin. That is a riot shotgun and 00 buchshot offense. Right?

RIGHT :!:
Just wondered if anyone could confirm for me the following:
Was told by a young man that in Iraq and Afghanistan some soldiers carrying shotguns preferred #4's over buck shot (not talking at point blank range) because buckshot generally, has a payload of eight 00-buck pellets to make up a 3⁄4-ounce load so you could have eight wounds that can be survivable, obviously depending on where a person is hit, But with a #4 you will hold a denser pattern that will take a large chunk out of someone with a high likely hood of them bleeding out.

Just wondered if anyone could shed some light on this.

Thanks

I shot registered trap so got into handloading with a MEC loader with the rotating turret. Having it, I experimented with different sizes of shot. I always thought using #2s would be the best balance of all in a use of deadly force situation, God forbid it happening. But I think when someone is dead, they are dead. 00, 0, 2, 4, it does not matter using magnum loads. They are going down hard.

Federal makes a 00 load with "Flitecontrol" wad to give tight pattern and most pellets on target.
It is called Federal Premium Law Enforcement.

Hornady also make a tactical 00 load. Maybe called Critical Defense? I bought some Federal but haven't as yet found any Hornady.

Hoss probably has good comments on this.

There's several different Leo loads. All are 00, and most labeled low recoil and flight controlled. I don't recall ever seeing any Leo loads that weren't 00

All i can tell ya is a few years ago i took a shot at a prarie dog at about 20 yards with some 00 buck. Saw it hit all around him and i never touched a hair on him anywhere.

#2's or 4's would killed him graveyard dead!

That organic rock salt is the ticket. Sure its more expensive than 00 but man what and environmentally friendly pattern you get. ;-)

I use to deer hunt with a 12gauge shot gun. I've used 0, 00, 000, #1 & #4 buckshot. I think I've seen #3 buckshot in 20 gauge. I use #4 & #5 size shot for squirrel hunting, mostly #4. #4 buckshot not to be confused with #4 small game load.

I carry a youth model 20ga loaded #3 buckshot.
I shot a big hog one day with it and I don't think he even felt it, never even squealed and trotted off

He probably got that idea after watching "The Legend of Billy Jack".

I shot a big one right at my back door about three months ago with 12ga 00. He didn't squeal either. I drug him down the hill with the tractor.

I know for a fact that rock salt in a 20 guage shell will blow a dogs back leg off.....not just get under his skin and burn his azz like I was thinking, I mean like I heard it would
