One of my cows had a set of twins yesterday evening. She is accepting one of them and acts like she don't know the other one. We're going to get them penned this evening and see if we can talk her into accepting both.

The interesting part of this all, is that she had her last calf on 6-23-07. That's an interval of a few days less than 10 months. Now, that's getting with the program.......... :tiphat:

sounds like you may have a bottle baby to raise.but you might get her to take both calves.if you keep them penned up.

Yep have at least one every year it seems like. The mom excepts oen sometiems but one is usually sold cheap to a neighbor kid for a 4H bottle calf.

Turned out a lot different than we expected. Once we got her and the 2 calves in the corral, she sniffed them both, and then started doing her motherly thing--with both of them. Maybe we just couldn't get them all close enough out in the pasture. But all's well now. Just a normal, happy little family.

Or, maybe she was just messin' with us.........

I have one cow that has had 3 sets of twins. After about 5 days she will pick her favorite and kick the other one off. I have put hobbles around the calves neck so that one can't eat without the other. That way one doesn't get all the milk. But generally I will get another cow that will lose a calf. So I have one to graft on to her.
