I would have never guessed there were 29,000 head of cattle in New Jersey.

South Dakota has the most cattle per person in the United States followed by Nebraska and Montana.

South Dakota has more than 4 times as many cattle as they do people.

Nine (9) states have more cattle than people.

I forget now, which of the Dakotas the city of Minot is in, but they used to have a saying too--
"Why not Minot?"
The airforce guys stationed at Minot had an answer for that.
"Freezin's the reason"

Yes, I've heard that one too :) Minot is in ND, and they do take their freezin' seriously in ND ;-)

We South Dakotans have a saying .... our winters keep the riff-raff out
I think the reality of it is that most of them hook up to their travel trailers or motor homes and come to Texas for the winter. The Rio Grande Valley has cities of penguins.

And lots of them never go back, which is one of the reasons Texas is not in the list of states where cattle outnumber the people.

Loving County, Texas, 689 sq. miles, population 71....wonder how many cattle are in that county.

That'd be what 440,960 acres so I'd say about 440.
Unless they're doing that mig stuff everybody's carrying on about :cboy:

Same with Florida. We haven't had a negative population growth for the last 30 years.

And how is that a problem?

Texas has to many people and not enough cows. Cows need fewer improvements and cost less to keep than people. Not many native born Texans anymore most are transplants from other states.

At the rate of murders in Indiana, we are bound to move up on this list.

Yep john. I think when all the steel mills closed up shop in 'the region', all those folks moved south and took the crime that Gary and Hammond were known for down to Indy and Louisville. Gary is like a ghost town compared to what it was when it was the murder capital of the world back in the 80's. Indy used to be one of the best 'big' cities..very safe, convenient shopping, easy to get around. I'm nervous as a cat with 2 sons in college down there.

Not a problem at all but sure is hard to understand them when they try to talk. Spanish is easier to understand. They're the dark skinned ones headed "north". ;-)

Indy sure isn't a safe place, murder is epidemic. Presumably, your boys don't sell heroin or hang with people who do. They will be alright. My zip code means DirectTV gives me Cincinnati local stations. They are shooting 3-4 per day. Dismal.

You would think, at some point, the odds would even out and they would mostly kill themselves off but I guess they reproduce faster than attrition takes tolls.
