Cow peas

I always grow way more than I can eat or give away

Would it be possible to grow enough in a garden, say a half acre and harvest by hand to store and feed cattle ?
Or would be lots of work and not enough peas to amount to anything ?

Are they worth a hill of beans?

I've been thinking of growing cowpeas.. not for myself but for forage. We have a tiny combine that could thresh them out, but we need a bean pickup for it, and they're a little hard to find.

I was thinking hulls and all stored dry for winter.
May not be worth the trouble
