For anyone new to cattle and/or farming/ranching like me let me say that my visist with our local county agent the other day was well worth my time. I had to catch him in his office as he does farm visits after lunch every day and he was a wealth of info for me. Also found out about a lot of government programs that are available for matching funds for farming. He also gave me book called The Kentucky Beef Book that is filled with useful info as well, pasture rotating, legumes, haying, cattle etc. most all this has been covered on this board at one time or another but I can't remember it all so the book is very helpful for an old forgetful fart like me. I would highly recommend a visit to your local agent if you haven't already done so. I wish I had done so sooner as I missed out on some good matching fund programs earlier in the year.

Thanks for this. We have talked about doing this for the last couple of years but have not made the time.

On the list for next week.
