 Went to order another load of corn gluton--- price went up from
$11 a ton to $40 a ton----- guess the girls will be getting
hay and mineral. Just another way to F--- the guy that
cant raise his own feed- hay!!! :frowns:

I cant believe your moaning about $40 a ton feed. I couldn't write a check fast enough. In Ohio your hay must be very inexpensive. Out here in Western Washington. Local hay is $120 a ton, good alfalfa is $190-200 layed in the barn. Corn is over $220 a ton. I sure feel for you, getting screwed at $40 a ton (sarcasm).

I would quit whining. I am pay ~$180 a ton for corn gluten. I can not even book it a semi load at the time right now either.

if i could get corn gluton that cheap i wouldnt complain.most of the $40 a ton is trucking im betting.im giving $240 a ton or more for 16% dairy feed.

OK--- BOYS----- yes, it is true, I am a HOBBY FARMER  ( oh the horror of it all) I come from a family
that has raised cattle on the side for over 40 years. I do not
have the big aluminium trailer--- my cows ride in a horse trailier.
I just this past summer got a head gate--- used to use a scale
pen and some gates. :p I do buy all my feed stuff from local
suppliers. I WILL whine when the prices of hay and feed more
than triple in less than in a years time. Thats right, I do not
have to be a "hobby farmer", I do have a "town job". But you
know, there is just something about helping that newborn
calf into the world, there is that feeling of accomplisment when
those bottle calves go on to be productive members of the herd, a sense of pride when the bull puts really nice calves
on the ground , that feeling of exhaustion after checking
flood gaps or electric fences ( in 10 degree weather) It is a
GOOD kind of exhaustion that says "hey, I have not been
setting around all afternoon doing nuthin! ' There is poop to
haul, cows to check, water to run, hay to put out, vaccinations
and wormer to give, and the list goes on  I am not trying to make tons of money on my calves, in fact we go in
the hole most years. In fact, I am beginning to question WHY
i do keep on doing all this work. I suppose it is that part
of me that loves being outside trying to make something out
of nothing at all. So, I will whine if I want to! ( for all the
good it will do) ;-)

Here in central IL the price is $65/t plus trucking. There are not any foreseeable cheap prices. $40/t e-mail me the name of your supplier and I'll order 10 loads.

It is all spoken for---- a feedlot owner has now a contract for
all it produces. It is wet corn gluton---- the trucking was
extra. The company was giving it away ( no one around here
was using it---- plenty of pastrue and hay----- until this year.
:(

My wife can pick a farmer/ranch out of a crowd by the why they complain. You have cheap feed, but heck you are one of us. It's your God given right to complain since you are a farmer.
