"Commercial" Herd

Help Support CattleToday:

Correct me if I am wrong, but a commercial herd usually has various breeds and crosses within it. The majority of the calves will be sold to a feedlot. Our neighbors run a herd of about 100 Brangus cows. One part of the herd has the best individuals who are registered and these calves are kept as replacements. The other part of his herd is commercial. Most of the calves, especially the bulls, are in a terminal program.

thanks again!
