cloning

I read this thought it was interesting, didn't realize this was even done on private dairy farms, what do you all think about it?

I dislike the entire idea of cloning. Not that it even is actual cloning but I won't go there. The "cloned" animals typically are less healthy and weaker than uncloned animals which raises the why question for me. Until they answer it I don't want to eat them.
Besides which it just doesn't feel right, maybe that sounds dumb but there you go.

I don't think a cloned animal is dangerous..What is dangerous is what they're fed,and the harmones that they're pumped full of..That stuff has to go somewhere..

The way I see it, by replicating the same animal, potential improvement is restricted,and genetic diversity is confined to the few animals being cloned.

i heard they cloned some famous barrel,yes, horse but the clone looks nothing like the horse... i don't know... so far, i guess the colt is healthy..

IF I read the article accurately, these folks are complaining they can't sell their expensive animals for meat or milk. They spent their money without that guarantee, so I don't have a lot of sympathy.
If these animals go into the food chain, the "frankenfood" nuts just get more traction.

To me personally, it is morally and ethically wrong, and it is very different than AI.

I won't be back to visit this thread. Don't know why cloning keeps coming up and getting locked over and over, but here it is again. Seems like people just got to pick at the wounds.

I'm not trying to start anything, I read this article thought it was interesting as to why a dairy farmer would do this, and why would the govt want him to in the first place. I'm relatively new to the boards, and I haven't seen any other issues on cloning.

GMN, You are due an apology and I came back to the thread to do so. I don't consider you a trouble maker and I don't think you are pushing an issue. This cloning issue has been beaten before and you never ground an axe with it. I should not written the words I used. They appear to be directed at you too and I actually did not mean it that way either.
