Clipping neck on steer

Wondering how I should approach clipping the neck on a 4-H steer. I generally cut the top of the neck from the top of the shoulders to the poll as close as I can and then blend in down into the rest of the neck. Should I shave the entire neck and blend it into the shoulder instead? Also any other key points for clipping/enhancing a market-ready steer?

Aaron,
I'm going to assume this fat seer is a hereford. If he is real sloppy fronted, I'd clip the brisket and neck and blend into the shoulders. The less hair the better on the neck and brisket. But, I have been told I am a little "old school" when it comes to clipping.
Good Luck to ya and your 4-Her.
