Clamp on muzzle brake

Make sure everyone has hearing protection of some sort. I have a A-Bolt in 300 win mag. that will ring your ears bad. A good recoil pad will take a lot of bite out of a rifle. Limbsaver recoil pads seem to be the best IMO.

I'll be sure to report back. Each one is custom made to the rifle. So I broke out the micrometer and gave exact measurements. They have about a 4 day back log from what I read

To be honest the only thing that scares me about using one of these is that it line up concentric with the bore.

I asked them about that 3way and they machine it out but the bullet better not wobble.
Just got the brake installed and put 3 rounds down range. Seems like there was more concussion but I had muffs on that's to be expected. The felt recoil was far less. I could easily shoot 150-200 of those heavy grain 30-06 rounds without issue.
I ordered one for one of my 270's because my wife finally decided she wants to take her first deer and recoil and weight is an issue for her. It's a rem 700 syn stock and should be good for her. I'll load up a light round for her and dial it in.

Synthetic stock leand themselves really well to putting a mercury recoil supressor in the butt. If it's hollow you may have to use some acraglas to build up inside so that it is in line with the bore.

What are the pros cons of muzzle brake vs the mercury recoil system? I haven't looked that far into recoil suppression until she said she wanted to hunt too.

The mercury affects the balance and adds weight, the muzzle brake is LOUD and can affect impact point between having it on and having it off, it also adds a little bit to the length overall.
I have a 12 gauge with a synthetic stock that I put the mercury deal in, my wife (100 lbs) shoots it and isn;t bothered by the recoil. I had a rifle magnaported (7mm Mag) and the 12 ga with heavy turkey loads didn;t kick as bad.

I'll put the rifle on some clean paper this evening and see if it has any affect on poi. Noise isn't am issue as long as everyone is ready for it.

Most people don;t wear hearing protection when hunting deer.

True but most people don't notice the recoil either when they shoot a deer no matter what the caliber. I may just get her started with good habits and turn her loose without a brake. She's really timid about felt recoil.

You just need to remember to resight it in when you take the brake off, easy to have it slip your mind. My wife shoots a 6mm Rem and I loaded a bunch of 60 gr bullets for her that 2 100 yards will duplicate the group that her 100 gr hunting bullets do. She shoots a couple of them to get the feel of the rifle then shoots 2 100 grs to get the feel for that. Only once in 20 some odd years has she needed more then 1 shot and that year she shot a real nice 4 shot 1 1/2 group right behind the shoulder before the stupid buck realized it was dead and collapsed in the spot. My rule is if it isn;t laying on the ground keep shooting till it is

I like that rule. First deer I ever took was up near you in eldon. Last day, last hunt we drove up for. Buddy did a push for me and a decent 8 ran by at 50 yds. I was using a 222 bolt and kept jacking rounds. 3 shots in probably one second. Lee Harvey could done it alone. Trailed him 100 yds and found 4 holes. One shot went through one elbow joint, his heart and lung, and exited his other leg.
Good memories. I'm trying to make sure it's good for her too.

My wife has always keped skin the deer and helped packing it out if needed. After 4-5 years she wanted to learn to gut one. We went over to the eastern sierra and shot a bunch of huge jack rabbits. I gutted the first one and had her watch everything, she gutted to rest of them herself. The next morning we went back to the area we had been hunting and she wacked a dandy buck, gutted it herself. Since then she guts her own deer if I'm not handy to help. Not bad for a city girl.

Any woman that can kill and process an animal is good in my book. The fact that she has put up with you is a bonus. Nice score dun!
