Once in a while, you run across a city slicker and you just gotta laugh...

So I loaned out my flatdeck trailer to this guy so he could haul some long roofing metal for a job he had.. all went well.

2 weeks later I was talking to him on the phone and said I was going to load up the cows on the trailer to bring them to the sale barn... He asked how.. I was a little confused, so I just said I'll back up to the chute and load them up.

so he says "So they'll kinda be like skateboarding?"

I just about pizzed myself and said "yeah". Gotta yank a guy's chain once in a while!

He wasn't aware I had a rack that went on the trailer!
 
I was in Idaho one time and saw a sheep herder driving down the highway with two dogs and a saddled horse standing there ground tied on the bed of a 6x8 utility trailer with one foot side rails. As gentle as your cattle are I'd bet you could train them...
 
well, there's youtube videos of skateboarding dogs and goats!.. perhaps the idea isn't that far fetched.. except these roads wouldn't be the ones to try it on
 
I went on trail rides years ago, and some of the folks I rode with told about a guy that went on a ride with a mule pulling a camper trailer. He had cut a hole in the front of the trailer that he stuck the lines through while they were riding. When the ride was over he hitched the travel trailer behind a pickup, opened the side door, ran the mule in, and took off.
 
Had a city dude relative helping hook up the bumper pull trailer, I told him to stop me when the trailer ball lined up with the trailer hitch. He stopped me and hollered the trailer won't fit it's too tall, he did not know you had to jack the jack down on the ball :dunce:

I've seen some of those slide in inserts that looked pretty nifty and others I'd be afraid to haul an emu in.
I saw one of this brand a few weeks ago, at a little roping pen they have up the road from me. Looked like one of the better ones.

I'd want the sides higher to prevent legs getting caught in them when they behave like arses...

Mine works well, it's not as pretty, the plywood comes up 4' which is just about perfect... scales don't see what I have when I pass by. I made most of it myself, the rear door swings open, or slides up, or swings down as a ramp, or you can take the whole back wall off. I made it to be 20' inside so if I ever have to haul 20 sections of pipe or something it'll fit inside nicely, has a divider just forward of the halfway mark.

I need to replace the plywood on it.. it's about 20 or 30 years old.. I'll try and post a pic sometime
 
Somehow I had imagined nesi with a couple of strands of high tensile electric strung around the trailer. ;-) :cboy:
 
I think mine is about 1000-1500 lbs, it bolts down to the deck with 6 bolts.. takes at most 20 minutes to put on, and about 10 minutes to take off.. saves me the trouble and expense of keeping a separate trailer, which I like
 
The one I saw was chained to the sides of the trailer x2 in the front, and I think the same in the back, but it had some places that looked like it was designed to pin in--that one just wasn't.
To be honest, I didn't look real close at it.
 
My husband helped a friend of ours fashion a small cow trailer out of a utility trailer and a rack for a pick-up. It was an 8' rack that fit inside of a 10' trailer. Husband did some welding, bolted the rack to the rails of the trailer, they bolted a sheet of plywood on the front and the sides and painted them red. Works pretty slick for guy for no more than what he hauls with it.
