Is it just me but I stay up late and watch chopped till like 2am in the morning with my grandmother and we both see a trend on chopped that the person with the biggest sob story and hard life always win the show... I am wondering if the show is truly about cooking or who has the biggest sad story. opinions anyone?

Its gotten about ridiculous with the sob stories hasn't it? Don't watch it much anymore because of that. I could care less if the little gal was a retired pole dancer and her mother a junky and she wants to use her winnings to get her mom in rehab. And I sure don't care that Percy wants to take his winnings to get his "friend" a sex change. Heck, if I were a judge I'd be scared to eat anything that vile creature put his hands on for fear of getting some funk that won't wash off.

The media is beating this crap down our throats to make it all seem so normal.

Jo you are completely correct I saw that episode and no I wouldn't eat it either. I am probably not gonna watch the show very much anymore. The only show I think that truly showcases cooking skills is Iron Chef or the bobby flay show. I am so sick of sob stories. What do you think the best cooking show is?

I used to really enjoy that show but as most have mentioned... way to much drama anymore! I still like watching "Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives". I actually met Guy Fieri in the Delta Crown Room at Nashville Airport. I will keep my comments to myself of what I thought of him in person, but regardless of that I still enjoy the show!

I like DDD's too. Get some great ideas on things I've never heard of. IMO, the very best show is Alton Brown's Good Eats. He teaches the science and the reasons you do certain things and if you understand these basics you can do near about anything in the kitchen. You rarely see him anymore though. Last time I saw him he wasn't looking very sporty. Have suspicions he's not in good health but then again he may have just turned vegan.

You named my two favorite shows, I'd put good eats over triple D, but really like them both. I like sandwich king also but have a hard time with the host. The risotto I mad a while back came from watch good eats.

I agree with assessment of Alton Brown, when I see him hosting Iron Chef he appears thin and maybe not doing well, but then again who knows.

I actually went to a couple of the places featured on DDD... so far, they were everything as advertised! I like it when they feature local joints in Tennessee.

Thanks for the tip greybeard, one of the post claims he lost 50lbs. If true I didn't think he had 50 to lose. He looked better a few years ago. To any that didn't google this, he's not sick just on a health kick.

I have found that what a doctor thinks you should weight and what looks healthy are two different weights. I think Alton took his doctor literately.

I agree, he doesn't look like the picture of good health to me.

Friend of mine is a body sculptorer or something like that. He lives for his body and eats all sorts of weird stuff to stay fit. He has lots of awards and has been in a magazine or three but he recently had an insurance checkup with for his companies insurance policy and they rank your premium based on your fitness. The nurse labelled him as obese due to his height and weight and some scale they use. I've always given him a hard time saying the only reason he does this is so he can have other men wipe him down with baby oil at the tournaments but now that he is obese I have had a world of fun at his expense.

I still like to watch H@ll's Kitchen , maybe only because Mr HD HATES it .

I watch DDD emphatically but not so much as I think I have seen every episode at least twice .

I like to watched Top Chef Canada . I bought some Top Chef series Knives and they are now my new favorite , made from the best German steel ,stay super sharp for a really long time .

Masterchef is on again tonight. Have caught some of it , but if I miss it ,so be it .
