After 6 years of being rid of one, it seems that I need to get back into the 21st century. What are the recommendations for a new cell/smart phone. I was leaning towards a Samsung Galaxy 5 Active, but really doesn't matter. Something that is relatively tough built. It will end up getting wrapped in an OtterBox anyways, but it wouldn't hurt if the barebones case could take some abuse.

I have an IPhone because all my kids had them before me and dragged me into their realm.

If I were starting from scratch I'd look at a Galaxy.

I have the samsung rugby l. I have dropped it a thousand times on pavement, metal floors, rocks and it keeps going. Never broke the screen. It stands up to my temper as well when it doesnt cooperate. They also make it in an unsmart version which i and wanting to get but just cant until i tear this one up. It not too big. I carry it in my back pocket while im working. A buddy of mine did break his but had it in his carpenters pocket and was carrying a pair of channel locks in there with it.

I have a Samsung Galaxy note 3, and a Samsung tablet. It's great for me because they both function the same way.

My buddy and I both have Samsung galaxy S4's.. they're decent... Mine isn't in a case but has a protective flip cover for the screen.. I've had it for the better part of a year and haven't broken it yet (lets not speak too soon). I also don't carry my phone on me around the farm, so I'm pretty easy on it.

If you're hard on the phone, I think Best Buy and a few other places have some no-questions-asked warranties that covers everything and transfers to your new phone.. if you're likely to break the phone, GET IT

I have an iPhone 6 I like it. It is in a defender Otter Box no problems so far. If you want the best and water proof go with a Lifeproof case. Otter Box does make a water proof case but it is bulky.

I have an Iphone and my wife has a Samsung Galaxy. There's a lot of days where she says that she wished that she had gotten an Iphone, too. I hate it. It's difficult to navigate compared the Iphone. The Iphone is pretty dumbed down, it works pretty well, and I haven't had very many issues with it. I've dropped it several times and it keeps working.
