Used rarely but they work when used. Not much can't be done with them or a rope halter. Vet won't let me use the halter, some jobs she wants the tongs.

After they are caught I use that bar from behind their butt.
Keeps them from walking into the headgate and makes the neck accessible from the side panel.

Been using those tongs since way before I even herd of a head gate.
We had walk boards on the side of a chute and would just reach down and grab them. If we couldn,t catch them with the tongs we just used our fingers. Snub them up to post, dehorn brand, drench,etc. Seemed pretty simple at the time.
