We sold an Angus/Jersey cow and her 3 month old 3/4 Angus calf (steer) Wednesday. The barn split them and boy howdy was I happy when I got the check.
They sold for about $300 more than I thought they would bring.

I imagine that the price of beef will be going up in the stores too.

Are the cattle prices going up in your area too?

Yep, not a good time to be buying.

Last week I brought a black baldy cow with a week old calf on her side. They split them too; I was surprised at the check; I'm not so sure about the effect on beef prices.

Saw a couple of really good 500 to 530 lb steer calves bring up to $1.30 last night at Winnsboro. Some 3 weight steer/bull calves brought $1.52 to $1.60

I posted this on another thread but I guess it would be more appropriate to put it here. I had 4 calves that I didn't cut because I wanted to give them a bit more time to see what they did. I decided to go ahead and sell them this last monday (Jan 3) uncut. These were late may early june gert calves. 6 weights and they brought 1.16 - 1.30.
