How much land to I need for about 25-30 head of cows? How often will I need to rotate pastures, reseed and fertilize?

What kind of fencing is suitable for cattle? Barbed? Electric? Board?

I would like to get a feel for what I should be looking for in land and set-up. Also what kind of fencing and pasture management I should be learning about.

Go to your local USDA or extension office and see what the "acre per cow calf unit" ratio is for your area. There are a LOT of variables in the equation.

here in north mo. it akes 3-4 acres per cow, but you might look on net for grazing cattle in texas. or call a real estate person down there & they should be able to tell you somewhere close. i prefer electric fence but border fence needs to be barbed. set up depends what you want, everyone has their's different.
