Cattle Genetics

My husband and I would like to start breeding cattle. However I would like to know more about cattle genetics. How can I learn this information? Are there some good books out there or do I need to take a class at a college or something? I know quite a bit about horse genetics, but not much about cattle.

Genetics is genetics. Only the breed, sires, dams change. Genetics can get very complicated when one gets into it deep.

Suggest getting a university textbook at university bookstore which is used in a genetics course. Then, if need more hands on training, try to take a college course (or at least audit one).

I'm interested in breeding mini cattle as a novelty pet. I want to know if it possible to control the color or color patterns of miniature cattle. Is this possible in the bovine world? I know equine genetics and you can control color to a degree with horses, but what about cattle?

There is a very active miniature cattle group on yahoo. Those folks could give you a bunch of information on what's possible with the mini cattle.
