Good luck, Cajunman. I can't remember the last time I saw or heard of a used chute for sale. Chutes seem to be one of those farm tools that get kept forever. They're always useful and seldom have to be replaced. Just bite the bullet and shell out a few bucks for one of them nice Prieferts. Heck, it's only money!
 
Guess everyone has preferences but I hate squeeze chutes. Would much rather just have a headgate or simply run her up to the headgate and put a pipe behind her. Can do anything there that I can do with a squeeze chute .... at least so far. ;-) But...Priefert is the one I hear mentioned most often.

I have a WW i love and I didn't pay a fortune for it. Quality was good enough that it survived my barn fire a few years ago and all I had to replace was the wooden side boards and some springs and ropes.

there are several manufacturers that make a decent economy model now.

If you are working two hundred head of slammers then you need a foremost or other top end but for a few cows that can move at a speed slower than a high trot then the economy chutes do right well.
 
Build your chute with3 inch tube steel, weld panel to it and buy a head gate. Make everything portable and adaptable.

If you don't have a welding machine, buy a crackerbox and start burning some rods. You'll never regret it.
 
Cajanman I have been looking for a good used one for over a year. Finally found an old head gate and put it on the alley and it is doing OK. Think I will do as others have advised you and just bite the bullet.
