Allens post about the Judge got me thinking about these large caliber wheel guns and what cannons they are. A friend of mine brother just blew the tip of his thumb off while shooting a .460. He had his secondarly hand steadying the gun by holing up in front of the cylinder and apparently his thumb was in the area of the exhaust side blast out of the back of the chamber and it blew his thumb to shreads.

I know a guy that used his left hand to grip the bottom part of the cylinder on a 44 magnum. He has only done this once as far as I know. There is a tremendus flash around the cylinder when the gun goes off.

I was watching the Outdoor Channel the other night and they were showing the muzzle of a pistol with a remote camera. You could see the burning powder a couple of inches back down the barrel just before the muzzle flash. It was impressive to say the least.
