HS's post about breast cancer detection got me thinking about this so I thought I would do a poll.

Please ignore 1 as it is the same as 6.

Shoot, one and six are the same, I guess I should have proof read..

I lost my aunt to cancer in 2006, they totally dropped the ball on her, they were treating her for graves disease ,which she never had ,and by the time they figured out what really was her illness it was terminal ,she died 2 and half months later. My dad is a colon cancer survivor, it has taken most of his cousins already and his mother. He most likely would have died before it was even caught but thankfully he had a hernia operation and during the ultra sound they saw a blockage in his colon. He immediately got in for surgery and didn't have to have chemo or radiation. Every six months he gets a cancer count done and the last test it was up again, we are just waiting ..It is terrifying to think that we have to go through this again. How many survive when cancer comes back. :( My grandfather was a real survivor he had cancer in his forties, and was treated successfully but every ten years it would come back somewhere else. It came back the last time and treatment was not successful and it took his life, they had been married for 66 years.

I had a mammogram at the age of 38 when a lump was found, but it was benign, Thank God. Because of colon/bowel cancer plaguing my family I get to have a present for my 40th Bday, a colonoscopy. Lucky me.

I've told y'all about my battles- breast/uturine/colon. Off chemo at this time.
No one on either side of my family had cancer, except my uncle who had lung cancer. he had smoked unfiltered Camels sence he was 10.
My brother has colon cancer--my daughter had lymphoma, now she has lukemia.. Don't know what the heII happened

The poll doesn't cover me. Both family and myself have cancer

My grandmother died of cervical cancer, two uncles lung cancer, one from each side of the family, my cousin died of brest cancer on my dads side, the one on my mums side had surgery last year and has the all clear now. and My Mum died of cancer of the digestive system. My Son died of Lymphoblastic leukemia. I dread the word Cancer. I know not the same but he is still dear to me and the family, my little cat is dieing of thyroid cancer now.

Lost my grandmother (dads side) to lung cancer; smoker. Great uncle (dads side) lung cancer; smoker.
Beginning colon in my grandfather (moms side) non smoker.
Father in law Acute Milowd (sp?) luekemia, survived treatment, but died from COPD.
Husbands grandmother (dads side) luekemia.

Myself removal of 2 tumors on ovaries, low potential malignantcy and border line. No other treatment needed.

Lost my sister to breast cancer at the age of 48. She battled it for three years but lost. All this stuff in the news is a bit puzzling to me. Just don't know what to think of it.

Have lost aunts and uncles to various cancers including liver and lung. Dad has prostate cancer now but since it is so slow growing and since he has Alzheimer's, it isn't worth doing anything about. Do more harm than good since surgery seems to make Alz. patients deteriorate more quickly. Lots of skin cancers due to exposure to the elements working outdoors.

Lady I worked with last year went for a check up and they found state four colon cancer. She died earlier this week. Lasted less than six months after diagnosis. It's colon cancer I fear most since I have had so many problems in that area.

Eeek! Thats what they told me--stage 4!!! However it's been over a year now, colon cancer markers are fine and I feel good.. Been over a year for my brother also.. He's ok there, but going blind from diabeties. also seem to be some mental issues.....
