[/i] Got this in an e-mail and thought I'd put it on here. How can you tell I'm not Liberal? ;-)

SOMETHING WORTH THINKING ABOUT

Hello.

My name is Alan Robberstad I am a Canadian. One voter out of millions of
Canadian voters.

Paul Martin is no friend of mine. Liberal governments have not made my life
any better. Liberal governments have made the future worse for my children.

Jean Chretien and the Liberal Party became Prime Minister many years ago.
Guess who was the Liberal Finance Minister.....Paul Martin...LEST WE FORGET

Since 1993:
(1) My taxes have increased.
(2) My family's share of the national debt has increased.
(3) My personal expenses have increased.
(4) My waiting time to see a doctor has increased.
(5) My concerns for my family's safety have increased.
(6) My costs to educate my children have increased.
(7) Government interference in my life has increased.
(8) My personal debt has increased.
(9) My income has stayed more or less the same.
(10) My savings have decreased.
(11) The buying power of my dollar, in Canada, has decreased.
(12) The value of my dollar, in the U.S., has decreased.
(13) My trust of elected officials has decreased.
(14) My trust in the justice system has decreased.
(15 )My trust in the immigration system has decreased.
(16) My hope that a Liberal won't waste my tax dollars has decreased.
(17 )My dreams for a better future for my kids, in Canada, have disappeared.

That is my story since the Liberals came to power.

I am not voting for Paul Martin's Liberals. I am voting against Paul Martin
and his Liberal Party in January.

I am voting for Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party.

Do I like the Conservatives? Not particularly......I don't really like
Politics. I am not political by nature. I am not passionate about politics.
I am a middle age guy (48). I live in a small house on a fairly quiet street
in Edmonton. I have a wife, Kathy, and two children (ages 19 and 17). I have
no pets. I am a middle class man. I don't usually say too much.

Until now.

Now I am going to say something!

In 35 of the past 37 years, Canada has been ruled by:
(1) Pierre Trudeau - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
(2) Brian Mulroney - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
(3) Jean Chretien - a multi-millionaire lawyer from Quebec.
(4) And now we are going to vote for Paul Martin???? - a multi-millionaire
lawyer from Quebec???

The leader of the Conservative party, Stephen Harper, is:
(1) Not a lawyer.
(2) Not a multi-millionaire.
(3) Not from Quebec.

Stephen Harper says that the Conservative party will:
(1) Reduce my taxes.
(2) Pay off the national debt as fast as they can.
(3) Shrink the size and influence of the federal government.

That's good enough for me. I'm going to give the Conservative party a chance
with my vote.

But wait! Paul Martin is now saying the same thing. My mother told me forty
years ago: "Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice - shame on me!"

The Liberals have had 34 years to be financially responsible. Remember, Jean
Chretien was Trudeau's Finance Minister. Remember also, Paul Martin was Jean
Chretien's Finance Minister. These people have been raising my taxes for
thirty four years. They have been mis-spending my tax dollars for 34 years.

34 years!

And now Paul Martin says he'll stop taxing and spending. No way. Each time
he opens his mouth,,he lies.

Thank you for reading my story so far!

Why am I telling my story to you?

Although I feel alone, I know that I am not alone. Your story may be similar
to mine. And you may also feel alone. One small voter in the midst of
millions of voters.

What can you and I do together to change things?

Here is my idea: Lets you and I join up together. Just you and I. Together.
As a small team of two.

How can you and I fight a huge political machine?

You and I have two things that we can use:
(1) Our individual personal connections.
(2) The Internet.

The Internet is supposed to be this globalizing tool, right? Let's put it to
use.

I have 27 Canadians in my personal e-mail address book. I am sending this
e-mail to each of them.

I'm asking you to do two things:
(1) Forward this e-mail to every Canadian in your own address book.
(2) Vote against Paul Martin and the Liberal Party in January of next year.

Vote for the Conservative candidate in your riding.

I have probably written this e-mail too late. As I said I am not politically
adroit. I feel like Peter Finch, in the 1976 movie "Network", when he
shouted: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!"

Please, forward the e-mail RIGHT NOW!!

I hope the Internet is as fast as some people claim it is.

This may not work. This e-mail may "fizzle out" and go nowhere. But you and
I will have tried, won't we have?

My best wishes to you. My best wishes to Canadians everywhere.

My thanks to David Stokes from Toronto He actually wrote this just (5) days
before the last federal election. Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice
- shame on me!"

Alan Robberstad Edmonton, Alberta .

I was voting Conservative anyway but thanks for backing me up. I have been a fan of Stephen Harper's since back in the Reform party days. He's an economist and a very smart man and really the only choice for leader for the Conservative Party. We can only hope that the Easterners will finally wake up and smell the coffee this time. It seems that all the corruption in the Liberal government doesn't affect their opinion at all. Maybe they are just so used to everyone being crooked down there that they don't have a good concept of what integrity is. JMHO.

you know when this election started I didnt know who to vote for.Didnt particularily like Harper but as time goes on Ive changed---When Martin said he was going to ban hand guns that did it I dont own a hand gun and probably will never own one , but I cant stand haveing laws passed on me that I dont need ,perhaps in toronto they should check their imagration policies first. So Im doing every thing possible to see that martin doesnt get elected again I dont want the needs of Toronto shoved down my throat

Frankly, I'm against both of them. Neither deserves my vote. The problem is, neither does anyone else. So what do I do? Choose the lesser of the evils???

Vicky, it's a nasty feeling during an election isn't it? I like the Conservative party, I don't agree with everything they say though. I think Tom's dad was right, in an election often that is just what is going on choosing between the lesser of two evils. To be honest even if I didn't like the Conservative party all that much I'd still have to vote for them rather than voting Liberal because I believe that Martin belongs in jail. If the government was a business and the sponsorship scandal had happened to them the chief financial officer would be in jail.

Martin is a thief... Harper seem to be a good fellow... but I will vote for Bloc québécois. Duceppe is the best for us. I think he is doing a good job in Ottawa. In a couple years, on the next referendum Quebec will quit Canada. Harper wo'nt have the people in quebec to keep Canada United.

On the next referendum I don't know if I will vote Yes ou No.

Don't think for one minute that you don't have an alternate choice. We met our Green Party candidate the other night, and he won our vote. He's afarmer from Viking Alberta, leads the local youth group, and has great things in mind for our riding. Their website is http://www.greenparty.ca and it's very informative.

I used to think they were just tree-huggers, but that's not the case at all. We are voting for them.

You're right Martin is a thief. I have nothing against Quebec. I've never been to your province and would like to go. I see it this way though, as an Albetan a lot of my tax dollars gets taken and put into Quebec, a province that isn't even sure it wants to be part of this country. I wish the issue would just be decided once and for all. If Quebec wants to leave I don't see why Harper or any other Prime Minister should work their butts off to try to make you stay. If Alberta had a strong separtist party I'd be tempted to vote that way myself. I'm tired of the east putting in Liberal Prime Ministers and if it would mean Alberta could keep its money why not?
I don't blame you for voting for Duceppe. He does a lot for Quebec. One mention of referendum and the government starts handing over money. He's good for Quebec but not good for Canda - all depends where your loyalty is and I'm not about to tell you which way it should be.
I'm happy to hear you say that you believe Harper is a good man though. As long as the Liberals get no seats in Quebec I'll be happy. :D

purecountry- You're right I always did think that the Green Party was just a bunch of tree huggers. Don't they support Kyoto fully though and want to take it even farther? Global warming is a farce and they've bought into it.
The main reason why I am voting Conservative rather than any other party though is primarily a strategic vote to get rid of the Liberals. The Conservatives are the only ones that have enough votes to oust the current government and there's nothing I would hate to see more than the Liberals getting back in.

He will get some around Montréal. English peaking people vote for him. Outside Montréal, nothing. Lots of his ministers are in danger. Harper will probably get 5 seats outside Montréal.
On 75 seats, Liberals 10, harper 5, Bloc Québéquois 60.
That's what I think but I am wrong very often.

You Canadians seem like a rather good conservative bunch - why don't you just move down here to Texas?!?!?!

I know Macon said no politics on here, but I hope he'll forgive me for passing this one along, as it sure is food for thought.

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 300 employees
And has the following statistics:

30 have been accused of spousal abuse.

9 have been arrested for fraud.

14 have been accused of writing bad cheques.

95 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses.

4 have done time for assault.

55 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit.

12 have been arrested on drug related charges.

4 have been arrested for shoplifting.

16 are currently defendants in lawsuits.

62 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year.

Can you guess which organization this is? It is the 301 MP's in the Canadian
Parliament. The same group that cranks out hundred of new laws designed to keep
The rest of us in line. Which one did you vote for?

TAKEN FROM THE OTTAWA CITIZEN
Pass this on to every Canadian you know.

Take care.

Should be interesting to see if you are right. I know the Liberals will get some seats but I just don't understand why :?:

I like Bush, he's not perfect but he seems like a decent, God-fearing man who does his best but I have a lot of cattle over 30 months of age. ;-) Besides you've got snakes to deal with, I'll take the cold instead. Now maybe we should talk about become the State of Alberta...

Cattle Annie,
That was just scary.
I didn't know that there was no politics on here, thought that was just for the R-Calf board. Sorry if I did something wrong here Macon.
