CANADA CLOSES BORDER!

Why is it that we will never see this head line? Just a bit of background I was born in the USA and raised in Texas along with a couple other states. I am now living in Canada and am a citizen of both countries. I have things that I like about both. I can see why the border was closed at FIRST but now that the USA has BSE of their own why is Canada not returning the favor. Maybe it is the Amarican in me but when are we in Canada going to show some balls and demand respect the way other countrys do. I believe that the US had every right to close the border when they did but why are we in Canada to chicken $&!? to do the same. Do we enjoy the way our goverment just takes what they can get instead of demanding what we should have. Once in a while it is OK to learn a bit from our neighbors and a good case of pride and some good old bull-headedness is just what we need.

You enjoy the nickle culls hu? You must not make a living off your cattle to make a comment like this.

nickle cull ? give me your hidden meaning for that and I will no better how to reply to your ? . Also yes I do depend on my cattle for income as do the ranchers around me who have expressed some of the very same feeling that I stated. What are your thoughts on the rest of the post?

Its a human ideal we tend to understand the problems of ours much better than the problems of others.

I bet there are many cattle farmers in canada that feel this very same way after the last couple of years. Its had to be tough to make any kind of livin around cattle. It could get tough here also. Hope it doesnt but it really could.

We could see first hand how those north of the border felt for along while.

So now you think, Canada should close its borders..after finally convincing the U.S.D.A that our beef is low risk... You think we should be spiteful, when the U.S has found B.S.E in there own herd.
 You catch more bees with honey than vinegar.

We have an opportunity to show the world we have confidence in our testing programs. And the safety of U.S and Canadian beef lets do it.

I agree frenchie, thanks for the input.

SRR, I was refering to 5 cent culls. You must not ship enough cattle to know about them.

Good point frenchie.

I can see how that one sentence may not have been written right and may seem like spite. The post was written as a whole. Therefore a complete idea not meant to be just one spiteful sentence. I am only guessing here but you must feel that the BSE found in canada was not reason enough for the USA to close their border. If that is your feeling then I can see why you would not want canada to close theirs with concern over the US BSE. My thoughts are that at FIRST, the US did the right thing and if that is true. Then the Canadian government should follow their example and close their border until Canada can look at and clear the US beef imports. I can totally see why people are just happy that the border is open and are afriad to do or say anything that might change that. On the other hand respect comes from not always doing what big brother says and being afriad to do what is right because you might cause trouble.

You are right Muratic. For a fact I do not ship any cattle at all.
There is a really nice alien space ship that comes once a year and beams them up for testing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mind you if I have any left there is a mean man with a couple big trucks that comes and picks them up.From there I think he takes them to this place called a feedlot were some how thoses preconditioned animals become great big and then are turned into some of the best steak you have ever tasted.

Canada already did that briefly with the Washington cow remember till more was known.

S.R.R you have your opinon I have mine.

I think it is wrong to impose a double standard like that.We have an opportunity to make b.s.e an non issue trade-wise.We should be pursing that avenue. That could be a huge step for the beef industry.

As far as respect its earned around here.

You do have good points and of course if the BSE just goes away it would be great. Yes respect is earned ie.( not always doing what big brother says and not being afriad to do what is right because you might cause trouble.) If that happend believe me it would really feel like you were earning it.

So If I don,t agree with you, thats makes me scared?Boy what a conclusion.

I don,t think so

Tell me did you stand up within Canada and tell all your neighbors the last 2 yrs we deserved a closed border.

Now, now before you get all upset read the post agian. I even put it in capital letters so people would notice. I said ( at FIRST)!! and I said ( at FIRST )!! every time there after. The way it was handled after r-calf well I guess anyone with half a brain knows what that was all about.$$$$$$$$$$$

Like I said before maybe it is the American in me but I do feel strongly that you have to show some balls to those around you or you will get walked over. I hate to point out the obvious but when it come to Canada we tend to be pushed around more then we should stand for. As for being scared only you know your fears. No not agreeing with me does not make you scared.

You don,t have to remind me how piteful our Liberal gov,t has lets us down on issues. I still think a closed border to the U.S would be a double-standard..

Frenchie I am really starting like you. With a statement like that you cant be all bad!!! Just kidding! It sure was a hard pill to take when the Liberal came right out and said yes we robbed you, now vote for us you suckers. And that is just what people did. It is stuff like that were I do not understand why Canadian people just lay down and take it. Not all mind you but most.

I will sit down and take an honest thought on this double- standard idea maybe after a few molson X I will come around. My Canadian wife always tells me I am to aggressive to make a good Canadian.
