Have a 3 or 4 year old cow that is due this month, she has been bagged up heavy and springing for about 3 weeks. She has had some mucus like drainage during this time as well. Tonight there is a large amount, about the length of her tail but nothing else seems to be going on. I have never noticed such a large amount of drainage before is this normal ? If so how soon be for labor have you seen this ?

There are typically 2 types of mucus. The sticky stuff that tends to be a milky color and a clear non-sticky type. The first type that hangs in longish strings is usually associated with the mucus plug. The clear stuff that doesn;t string as much is the delivery lubricant. It can happen as much as a day before labor actually gets started.
