A couple weeks ago at the sale barn I bought two angus heifers that were bump to go. Well the weather is terrible and one of them decides its a good day to calve. 32 degrees with sleet and freezing rain. :bang: After about an hour of her not making much progress I decided to help. Little bugger was born about noon today. Heifer calf I think.  So far so good considering the crappy weather. Its been up and trying to suck. The rest of the herd hasn't bothered it to much. You can tell the rest of the heifers are curious. I'll try to get some pics up shortly.

Heifer calves are the WORST thing for a breeder. She's not one of YOUR daughters so you won't be satisfied with her. If she was one of your daughters she's be from yesterdays genetics so you'd already be looking for the next best thing... It's just easier to have steer calves and not think about the potential.
Glad you got a live mom and baby. Hope they do well for you.

You know it! :lol2:  So far I think her momma's done a good job! If she makes it through the night we might have to start looking at some bulls for her!

Thank you!
