My last heifer calved yetserday on my small herd, here are the results:
4 live heifer Births :cboy:
4 live Bull Births :cowboy:
1 dead Bull Calf, weight 115 lbs
1 out of sync cow. :devil2:
1 dead cow, Toxidia :cry2:
1 Dead Herd Sire, Toxidia. :cry2: :cry2: :cry2: :cry2: He sure made some pretty heifers.

In some respects good, some respects bad.

Good for you on the ones that made it, sometimes it seem like if you have 10 or 15 cows you have as many problems as if you had 200.

Sorry for your bad luck! That just really stinks.

We just finished up our calving this week, and our last two cows had calves that were just at 100 pounds each. These cows never have big calves, but are calving two and three months later than usual. I think it is the good grass we have had since the end of March that made the big babies. We ended up with 4 heifers and 4 bull calves, so a good year for us (though we like a few more heifers and a few less bulls!).
Here is a picture of our daughter with one of the calves today. This calf was born Thursday, and was 99 pounds. His mom just spit him out! We call him Lot.

This is when Lot was born, and his dam and granddam are drying him off. The other calf was born Tuesday, and was 101 pounds (we call him Little Mo). His mom is helping clean the new calf (grandma), and one of our matriarch cows.

So, our grass attributed to the high birth rates! But good healthy looking boys!

Of all the pictures on here, your cows look the most like mine. And they seem to have the same nature. Not many people would sit at the side of a newly born calf with mom looking on. I have a couple I would not do that with but most of mine are just like yours. I even have the same type of forehead spots on mine. But most of mine are not registered. I think yours probably are. I take great pleasure in your pictures. Thanks.

Kind of bull you use? Simm Angus?

Are you asking me or thommoos? We breed only Simmental, so those are purebred Simmental cows and calves. We do use half and 3/4 blood females (we have just a few), but only use purebred AI bulls for the most part.

You. Calves look like my dads calves out of his Simm-Angus bull. All got that white slash or dot on their foreheads.
