Right now, it is barely worth it , to castrate here when sold under 4 wts... unless you have bigger groups then it does help $.10-.30.... Definitely helps in the 5-7 wts.... but we have a guy here that buys bigger bulls all the time.. for going on a feedlot operation... and they bring near as good as the steers in the 8-11 wts... Over 11 they get sold along as bulls for slaughter most of the time.
Looking at that market report, it would sure seem to me to be worth banding them as calves to sell as steers... or buying some and banding, and/or working them and then selling in 30/45 days as steers... It's a .30 difference on the average... and I would bet you could pick up some on the low end of the price and get them worked and on some feed for 30-45 days and make some decent profit off them...
