I have a two week old bottle calf that has just done great. Then yesterday he wouldn't drink his milk morning or night. He looked fine and seemed hungry, he just wouldn't drink. I couldn't figure it out. The kid says, " the red bucket is his." I thought, yeah right. He went and got the red bucket and poured it out of the white one. Lo and behold he stuck his head in and drank every drop. I would have never thought it would make any difference to a calf what color the bucket was. But the red one is what we trained him to drink from. Go figure. Learn something everyday I guess.

Ive noticed that horses can be very picky about their water bucket color too.

That's so true! I carry a blue bucket out to the pasture, no response. I carry a white bucket out, and I'd better watch out for the stampede comin' my way!

The horses don't like water out of the black bucket, but will drink it out of the blue one.....go figure.......
