I had a cow that had twins last night I put one of them on another cow that lost her calf that day and it is doing great but the other one is still pretty unsteady when standing and walks on his front ankles or more like stumbles around I saw him nurse at least once and when I tried to give him a bottle he wouldn't drink any seemed full. Just wondering if there is anything I should do it is very cold here tonight and the I'm just worried about him.

Thanks

It's called "bumble foot". You can put splints on them and he will be fine in 6 weeks or you can leave them alone and he will be fine in a monht and a half.
In reality it usually only takes a couple of days or a week.

I happen to notice your issue. I have a calf that is now close to a month old that has similar symptoms. Someone suggested Selinium. The calf is still stammering around but is putting on weight. He stammers about but gets there. He walks with his head down and sort of stretched out. I really did not expect him to survive the first few nights, but he is still going. No one I have asked had any suggestions and saw that responce and just would like another opinion. Should I give it a shot of something or just let nature take its course? :cboy:

Hi,
I'm new here. Our first Scottish Highland calf had bilateral bumblefoot. The right hoof straightened out, but he was walking exclusively on the left fetlock. After no signs of improvement for 11 days, I splinted his left ankle yesterday. It's straightening out his ankle, but now he's dragging his entire leg below the knee. Do I need to splint it higher or should I take the whole thing off and let nature take its course?
