I had a bull calf on Sunday and noticed that his umbilical cord area is much larger than I have ever seen before? His momma is a first calf heifer that I bought and raised. She's kind of always had a larger flap of skin around hers too. Should I let it go or does this need to be taken care of? I posted a picture I can get better pictures later I was in a hurry.

Does the cow or bull he’s out of have Brahman in them? Eared cattle will show more navel than non-eared many times. Based off of that picture I wouldn’t be concerned about it.

On occasion, you get a calf with a large naval. Unless it is infected or the calf is exhibiting other symptoms that suggest it is caused by an ailment, I would not be concerned.

Not entirely sure....... Guy I bought the heifer from doesn't know either he has a pasture full cross colored mutt cows that he buys cheap. I do know her momma was an all black cow bred to a angus bull, I bought the resulting heifer and bred her to simi bull and this little bull calf is where I am at.

Guess I won't worry about it just noticed it is larger than some of the other calves.

Calf looks fine to me. We have some balancer calves that look exactly like that. Most will shrink up and be minimal by weaning.
