Calf loosing hide

My friends heifer had a calf and all looked normal at birth when we checked it a couple of hours later it was missing a chunk of hide all the way around the neck talked to the vet she thought it might have been stepped on but too much hide missing to stich up treated with wound spray and it was ok. Two days later it developed a blister on hindquater and lost the hide on it about the size of your hand and the next day one started on the shoulder going to loose the hide there too. the calf is doing good sucking well and running and bucking with the others. Never saw anything like this before any thoughts? Thanks

Another thing i remember is i had a horse that got alsike poisoning and it lost some hide that is what the calf looks like.

In a calf that young I would be thinking a) viral (like a BVD PI calf) or b) congenital skin disease that affects keratin such as epidermolysis bullosa. Toxins would be way down on the list. Breed of calf? It would be worth taking it to a lab especially if this continues.
