Man do I have a case it has been miserable here the last week with another week forecast.
It's to wet to get in a pasture to work, I have cleaned the shop, got all the maintainence on the equipment done.
Squirrel season is still open but the dog would need a snorkel.

Sounds like you need to do some hog hunting CB. They should give you plenty of excitement. Just remember you keep your hands away from them.

Hey CB ya could always plant some flower bulbs for the bride till it gets better.

That aint happening, I already built her a big greenhouse last fall. I can't wait to see the heating bill to keep them plants alive this month.

Me and Ruby(the dog) are going squirrel hunting in the morning if we have to swim.

If there is no snow and the temperature is over forty then you should not talk about cabin fever.

  Over 40? Heck if its over -40, there shouldn't be any complaints about cabin fever

Who said anything about over 40 it has been 33 or 35 and raining or sleeting for a week. Where did ya'll get cold confused with rain and wet slop.

I was actually addressing auctionboy's comments, CB. That that cool, wet weather that yer talking about is hell on livestock and the guys who have to look after them. Nothing worse than waking up to a layer of ice on everything, especially up here cause you just _know_ that it'll eventually quit and then get bloody cold so you have to deal with the ice for the entire winter.

I have been going through hay at a record pace I wonder what 35 and rain equates to in just cold to cattle. I know it is much easier on them here in the 20's they can at least get dry.

I fired up CowBytes, just out of curiosity to see what a 1200lb cow would need at 0C (32F) and wet versus -20C and -40C and dry. It looks as though the feed needs are about equal to -20C (sorry, too lazy to convert this morning :)). I assumed Brit cows of average hair and hide. I used 55F as last months temperature on the 32F/wet scenario, and -10C and -30C as last months temperature in the other scenarios.

While feed needs may be higher, I'd rather have -40 than 30F and wet, especially with smaller calves floating around. Nothing gets sick at -40, and all you have to do is keep lots of straw out. With wet weather, you need shelters, and even then the calves eventually have to poke their noses outside to eat.

Right now, we're getting rapidly swinging temperatures, and thats also harder on stock than just plain old cold. One day it'll be 30F, the next, -35F. My critters aren't sure if they should be shedding, or putting on more hair.

I think my cabin fever is just getting ready to set in. I just got off the phone with my Doctor and she informed me that if she heard of me sticking my nose outside again before I got over this derned p-monia AND before the weather cleared up she was going to throw my backside in the hospital until April. She also threatened to call my wife. Just what I need. My Doc, who is almost young enough to be my grand-daughter, consulting with my wife the ex-army RN. :help: Z

Temperatures in the 30's and raining.... welcome to my world. It has been that way here since late October. It will be that way until April. It is that way every year.
Just go out and do what ever it is you need to do. That is why they make rain gear.
Sure a lot of sniffling going on over one week of weather.

Thats why most of us chose to not live in a S hole place.

I don't know CB. Between the oil refineries and chemical plants your right on the edge of the hole. Luckly my hole is filling with mud.

I don't know where you think I live but it is nowhere near a refinery.
The only jobs in my area are hauling logs and farming.
I live in the northern part of the Big Thicket the only natural preserve in the US.
