FLP year-end numbers
The 2006 numbers for the Certified Angus Beef LLC (CAB) Feedlot Licensing Program (FLP) are in. The final acceptance rate for the year was 13.3%, but it reached a third quarter high of 15.9%. The lowest acceptance rates came in the second and fourth quarters with a higher run of USDA Select and Yield Grade 4 cattle in the mix.

Total CAB Eligible: 135,336

Average HCW: 805
Dark Cutters:615
Hardbones: 497
Heiferettes: 162

Forgot to add this:

Out of the Total Eligible for CAB but not Certified (Angus Influence):

Prime: 1.7% - 2,671 Head (NBQA = 3%)

Choice: 56.7% - 88,466 head (Beef Quality Audit Stats) = 54% Choice {includes Brahmans, Holsteins, or CAB immediate rejects}

Select: 38.6% - 60,258 Head (NBQA = 37%)

No Roll: 2.7% - 4202 Head

No Quality Grade: .4% - 561 Head

Those CAB folks are mighty discriminatory. Only 13.3% accepted on final analysis. Is that the way you read it Mike?

Yes I do. No wonder they needed to change the Specs. The qualifying percentages are seriously declining.

I would have changed it too I guess. At least they can qualify those YG 4's and 5's.

Wonder if the Angus Source program and getting a little more hide color in the mix is gonna help?

Frankie. Just wondering if you know or would look up something for me here.

Does CAB beef absolutely HAVE to fed in a CAB licensed feedlot?

If so, the numbers here don't add up.

Thanks in advance.

No, it doesn't have to be fed in a CAB licensed feedlot. Any animal going through a licensed packing plant and meeting the criteria can be CAB.

The AAA wants everyone to have the opportunity to collect CAB premiums. :D

Then what is the advantage in a feedlot BEING certified by CAB???
