These were two other really impressive bulls at Denver. I had seen pictures of Fantastic, and loved them, but felt he could be wider - The Cowboy bull looked exceptional at Denver. How about Udder quality and anything else you can tell me about the two bulls. Thanks!

Cowboy must have more impressive in person than in those pictures txag posted the link to. I see nothing in those pics that would make be look twice.

Fantastic on the other hand...
I saw him in Denver in 2004. Real good bull there. Good year for Coyler's all around in Denver.

I just had the same thought about Cowboy, Cert, especially the top picture. But that 218 day weight did catch my eye.

I like the 335F in the bulls pedigree. But that isn't enough to convince me to buy semen on something with such a weak top and lacking in the lower quarter like that.
I have a bull in the field that could use some more quarter. But he has a good strong, thick top.

This bull was bred in the Harland Hereford herd at Texhoma, OK. I saw him last spring prior to their dispersal sale. He was a standout calf in a very good set of Hereford cattle. He and his mother were the high selling pair in the sale.
The Harland cattle were some of the best Hereford cattle I have ever looked at. We have shown several heifers from them that were very competitive in the showring. The cows were always in good flesh every time I ever went to look at cattle there. They ran in some very tough shortgrass country in the Oklahoma panhandle.
I would look for the Cowboy bull to be a good breeding bull. The 552 bull came from the same herd. Most of the cattle had CL1 501 in their pedigree somewhere. Jerry Harland told me several times that 501 was the best breeding bull they ever used. There were several 501 calves on the cow when they sold last spring. That says a lot for a bull that was born 20 years ago.

The calf picture of Cowboy doesn't do him justice. At Denver he was an extra stout made bull. He didn't look like your typical hereford bull to me. He had much more width than Fantastic, and I loved the side profile picture of Fantastic.
