Need to buy a sprayer, gonna try to keep it under $2000.

May get into growing corn, but currently it would be mostly used for weed control in hay fields and pastures, and the odd burn down.

Minimum 10 acres at a time, max maybe 80 acres at a shot.

Any brands to stay away from?
How big a tank do I need?
Trail or 3pt?
Type of pump?

Electric controls, foam markers, hydraulic booms are all options, any of them necessary?

Most of the ones I am looking at have booms in the 28-35 foot range, enough or too much?

Thanks in advance.

Posted this under the question on the boom should have been here.
Wylie makes a pretty good sprayer. I bought a new one about three years ago for $1400, it was trailer mounted and 300 gallon with a boom jet sprayer.
Thier website.: http://www.wyliesprayers.com/products/products.htm

Our sprayer at 5 mph and 50 psi puts out 20 gallons per acre through 14 ft booms. It's a 110 gallon tank so I can only do 5 acres at a time before refilling.
Most of the pastures are broken up into 5-10 acre pieces so it's a comvenient size for us.
The reason for that explanation is to provide some thoughts on how to determine the size tank you will need.
Depndgin on the shape of the fields, a 3 pt may be a better option for the "getting into strange corners" part of odd shaped fields. But if I was plannign on a tank over 200 gallons I'ld sure give some serious thought to a wheel mounted sprayer.
Make sure that it has a hand sprayer wiht it that has at least a 15-20 foot hose.

Mine is 250 gallon but if it was any bigger I would need to put some weight on the front of the tractor . Dont know how big your tractor is but water is heavy --just something to keep in mind.

Water is close to 10lbs per imperial gallon, I was thinking no more than 350 gallon if I went to a 3pt model. ( Ford 6640 mfd with a loader I could throw something in ).

I had never considered the maneuvering advantage before posting, got me leaning 3 pt, I have some triangles and corners I would like to get into.

But after dun posted I also decided I would like at least 350 gals, we are getting it narrowed down! :D

Looks like you got a good deal on that wylie there hurleyjd, I went to their website but I haven't seen any up around these parts. Nice looking stuff though.
