BUSH HOG 2615

I have a legend 2615, works really well but is pretty heavy duty. I pull it with a International 1086 or John Deere 4230. In really tall & thick stuff(4ft and up) it pulls the John Deere down pretty good. Seems to cut well and gearboxes handle all we dish at it.

HD, we have 2 2615's and they are excellent Bush Hogs... put a couple of hours on one just today. We are currently pulling them with JD 6100's and the combination works well. As a plus, parts are readily available and they are easy to work on.

I am looking for something heavy duty used. I have heard some here mention a stump jumper or some such term I don't know what that means.

I am considering this one http://www.machinefinder.com/ww/en-US/machine/2909469

He already knocked $1,000 off so the price seems agood. The guy who traded it in bought it new. The only problem he mentions is that one wing drops down, but the cylinder isn't leaking. Not a biggie to me, cause the wings would be down almost all the time anyway.

Thanks all.

stump jumper is a rounded very sallow looking bowl that the blades attach to. Instead of the straight arms with the arms attached to them. A quick glance will tell you if it's there or not.
If one side drops down it's an internal leak in the cylinder, no big deal. When parked you usually use the mechanical lock to hold them up anyway.

yes that machine has stump jumpers on it first thing I would do if I bought it is drain all the gearboxes and refill them
Personally I would use Lucas Hub Oil in them instead of regular gear oil
Hey thanks. I see them now.

I've been using a 2720 and have been taking it over some rank stuff. Its heavy..Mows it all down. The tractor i'm using now is kind of small, i have to be careful to have the rpms at 1500 before i pull the pto button.

Well, it turned out to be a good piece for a decent price, but,,, it is 1,000 rpm shaft. Tractor is 540...

This is what got me looking for the NEW HOLLAND 488 instead of the Bush Hog.
