Bungee gate problem

I have bungee gates and they keep shorting out. The rope burns at the handle and the opposite end. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Thanks

I just tried googling “bungee” ….. “rope burns” “gate” “opposite end”…….so I’d know what you’re talking about. Not doing that again.

Redcows is correct. If the connection to the poly at the handle is not tight, it will spark and burn. I prefer Spring Gates for uses like this.

That is a lesson I learned as a teen! Especially with a 32 joule charger!

Tech support says there needs to be an hot insulated wire under ground before putting bungee on and the handle of the bungee rope would be connected to the heat and the other end of the bungee would be terminal. Has anyone been told this before?

That's so the rest of the fence remains electrified while the bungee is disconnected (gate is open)

Thats how mine are fixed.
