Here is our bull battery, well most of it. There are 3 Shorthorn missing...I will get them next time we go to check on them.
We run the Red Angus and Shorthorn on the top 1/2 of the cows for 21 days with an eye toward making replacement heifers. The Char bulls run on the other half of the cows from the start, and then we pull the Red Angus and Shorthorn bulls and run the Char bulls on the whole herd for the rest of the breeding season. We generally run one bull to a pasture, yearlings get about 20 cows and the older bulls 30. Once we pull the Red bulls, the Char bulls will run on about 50-60 cows for the final cycle.

We really prefer the darker red animals....I think he qualifies.

And this year I had a chance to use a yearling Hereford bull of a friends on a few cows...So, he got all my colourful Shorthorns and a few extras that were kicking around home for various reasons.
Oh...and here's a bull calf that we thought we'd give a chance. He's out of one of my favorite heifers, she had him unassisted (76 lbs) and I think he'll be quite a bull. Only problem is he's BLACK...
