It really bit me on the butt this week. I had bought 3 Registered Red Gelbvieh heifers from a fella and one of the things I did was look at the PAP scores on their brothers over the last 3 years. They all PAP'd good and I bred them to my Angus bull who PAP"D extremely well.
I ended up not liking one much( a little too framey) so I sold her to a friend of mine to use for a commercial cow but made a deal to trade him a heifer for her bull calf if he looked like he might pan out as a breeding bull, and he was looking great.
Well he was doing fine until last week when he went down the drain with the Brisket and died before we could even get him to low country.........I know it could always get worse but I sure hope it doesn't any time soon. :frowns:
