Our neighbor may bring his bull over to visit my cow. He's 1/2 Charolais, 1/4 Red Angus, 1/4 Brahma. She's 1/2 Holstein, 1/2 Hereford ( how's that for hybrid vigor?) She apparently didn't settle with the CIDR and timed AI, because they're keeping the neighbors up with the bellowing going on between them.
Is there anything I should know or do to keep them from hurting each other? Do they need any getting acquainted time? They will be seperate from the other cows.
Hopefully she will still be in heat tomorrow am, because that's when he may come over - the neighbor gal had to check with her husband to make sure "Pumpkin" could go on a field trip, neighbor guy is a professional Bull rider at a Rodeo somewhere. Pumpkin doesn't look like a bull-riding bull to me, hopefully he won't have a coronary since he is pretty chubby.
BTW, our cow is very large and 8 yrs old, this will be her 4th calf so I don't imagine there will be a problem with calving... he's sired other calves before.
Well, anyway, any opinions or helpful tips would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Susie
