Close breeding (inbreeding) should be avoided between father/daughter, mother/son, brother/sister. Go back one generation. With close breeding you have ~50% chance of getting "bad" traits and ~50% chance of getting "good" traits (or, you could luck out and get all good traits...but won't know what "their" offspring might be). Better be safe than sorry.

If, however, you plan to slaughter calves for dogfood, can breed anything to anything that will take.
