Hi everyone
We have a young baldy bull that were considering keeping to breed our cows. If so, we will sell his dad and mom. Would it be ok for the younger bull to breed a heifer from another cow the dad sired? thanks

I know other folks'll have their say on this, but if I were you, and if you have a really good history of your dams and sires (like, registered type history), then yeah, go ahead. But if you're unsure like you are now, don't do it. You could end up with some weird genetic deformities if your gonna breed half-brother to half-sister.

That's my two cents from the info I've personally gained here on CT.

For waht it's worth, I feel that if someone has to ask about linebreeding/inbreeding they shouldn't be doing it.

dun

Thanks, guys. I wasn't sure if it was common to breed half brother and sisters. Trying to plan ahead ,our bull is about 6 yr. old. Don't want to keep him till he starts having age and behavior problems.
